Dan Barclay

Head of Canadian Mergers & Acquisitions, BMO Capital Markets

Dan Barclay heads the BMO Capital Markets Canadian Mergers & Acquisitions group. He has over 23 years of investment banking experience in a broad range of industries advising clients on all aspects of transactions. His recent assignments include: CNOOC’s acquisitions of Nexen Inc. and OPTI Canada Inc.; Element Financial on various lease asset acquisitions; Fairfax Financial on its investment in Blackberry; Progress Energy’s sale to Petronas; QuadraFNX sale to KGHM Polska Miedz; Rainy River on its sale to NewGold; Cominar REIT on its acquisition of Canmarc REIT; Rogers Communications on its acquisition of Mountain Cable; Canadian Tire’s acquisition of Forzani; Consolidated Thompson Iron Ore’s sale to Cliffs. Dan received a Bachelor of Science with Honours from the University of Alberta and an MBA from the University of Calgary.

Evan Young

Managing Director, Head of Electronic Execution Services, Global Equity, Scotia Global Banking and Markets

Evan Young is Head of Electronic Execution Services for Scotiabank’s Global Equity Group. Evan joined Scotiabank in 2001 to design and develop algorithmic trading systems. He then moved to the Portfolio Trading desk, trading equities and multi-asset strategies on behalf of clients. In 2007 Evan started the Electronic Execution Services group (EES) with a mandate to offer DMA and algorithmic trading services directly to Scotia’s institutional clients. The EES team is now a multi-disciplinary group of sales, trading and technology professionals based in Toronto, New York and Mexico City that are responsible for the design, development and operation of Scotiabank’s algorithmic trading, smart order routing and direct market access services. They also provide clients with leading market structure research and commentary. Evan holds an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Waterloo and is a CFA charterholder.

David Yuen

Vice-President and Head of Fundamental Investing, Canadian Pension Plan InvestmentBoard (CPPIB)

David joined the CPP Investment Board in September 2012 in the role of Vice-President, Head of Fundamental Investing within the Public Market Investments department.


Prior to joining CPPIB, David held the positions of Chief Investment Officer, Global Value Long and Short Equity Strategies, and Co-CIO and Director of Research, U.S. Large Cap Value Equities at Bernstein Value Equities, Alliance Bernstein LP.


During his tenure at Bernstein, David also held various roles including Director of Research – U.S. Large Cap Value Equities and Director of Research – Emerging Market Value Equities.


David began his career with Bain & Company in Boston and then joined William Kent International to develop emerging markets initiatives where he was promoted to Partner. He then joined the Coleman Company to develop a business strategy for growth in China, ultimately acting as Senior Vice President, Managing Director, Coleman Asia Limited.


He holds a B.S. in Operations Research from Columbia University, New York, N.Y.

Eric Czervionke

Principal, Oliver Wyman

Eric Czervionke is a principal at Oliver Wyman. He will deliver a keynote speech at hEDGE 2014 on the topic of High Frequency Trading, drawing experience from his career at Oliver Wyman – a Eric Czervionke is a Principal in Oliver Wyman’s New York Office. As a member of the firm’s Corporate and Institutional Banking practice, he advises banks, broker-dealers, custodians, and financial market infrastructure providers on strategy, product design, operations, regulatory change, and risk management.


Prior to joining Oliver Wyman, Eric held positions at the Bombay Stock Exchange, where he led the exchange’s market data and information products businesses, and at Merrill Lynch, where he was a member of the firm’s Corporate Strategy and Business Development group.


Eric holds a B.S.E. in Operations Research and Financial Engineering, magna cum laude, with certificates in Finance and Applied Mathematics from Princeton University.

Sharon Kim

Managing Director and North American Head, Corporate FX Sales, TD Securities

Sharon Kim is Managing Director and North American Head of Corporate Foreign Exchange Sales at TD Securities. Sharon manages a dynamic team of Foreign Exchange (FX) marketers across TD Securities’ various wholesale centres, which are located in Toronto, Montreal, and New York. Additionally, she is a dedicated resource to the investment and corporate bank, acting as the primary conduit for the global FX product line. Sharon’s career has always been in foreign exchange, in various capacities. Prior to running the corporate coverage team, she was Co-head of Institutional FX Sales at TD Securities. At Societe Generale, she acted as FX option structurer for North America. RBC is where she started her career as an associate on the Trading and Sales rotation program. Sharon has an MBA from York University, a BArts&Sci from McMaster University, and is a CMT charter holder. She is also a dedicated volunteer for TD Securities’ annual charity campaign and is on the board of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Toronto.

David Mau

Vice President, TD Asset Management

David joined TD Asset Management Inc. in July 2006. He is currently co-manager of the TD Japanese Growth Fund for TD Mutual Funds and has primary analyst responsibilities for companies within the global financial sector, supporting the team’s international equity mandates. Prior to joining TDAM, David spent two years at TCW Group as an analyst in the leveraged finance area. He also spent three years with AllianceBernstein in the structured finance group. David has an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business and is a CFA charterholder.

Jonathan Patterson

Associate Vice President, TD Bank Group Capital Markets Risk Management

Jonathan Patterson is the Associate Vice President at Capital Markets Risk Management at TD Bank Group. He is the head of Global Collateral Management and Counterparty Credit Risk operations for Wholesale Banking activity. Jonathan has held a variety of roles within TD Securities in Counterparty Risk Control and Treasury Credit. Jonathan is a CFA and graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Commerce in Management Economics in Industry and Finance.

James Burron

Chief Operating Officer, Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) Canada

James Burron works closely with AIMA Canada’s Executive Committee and its membership on a broad range of association management and executive duties, including member liaison and communications, as well as focusing on broader policy and strategy objectives.

James has a solid background of more than 20 years of international experience in the securities industry including a significant background in the alternative investment industry. Most recently, he has been involved in product origination on global platforms. He has also been active in event organization, research and writing as a Chapter Executive and spokesperson for the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association.

A graduate of Simon Fraser University, James holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation. He has been very active over the years in industry associations and is a frequent speaker on industry issues.

Roland Austrup

Chief Executive Officer, Chief Investment Officer and Director, Integrated Asset Managment Corp.

Roland Austrup has been the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Investment Officer and a Director of IMFC since June 9, 2003. Mr. Austrup is responsible for strategic planning and development and enhancement of the trading programs. Mr. Austrup has been registered with the CFTC in the United States as an Associated Person and Principal of the Advisor since June 2003 and with the OSC as an Advisor since February 1999. Mr. Austrup is an Associate Member of the NFA and a member of the Managed Funds Association. He is a director of the Master of Quantitative Finance program at the University of Waterloo, and a member of the Investment Funds Product Advisory Committee (“IFPAC”) of the Ontario Securities Commission. Mr. Austrup holds a B.A. (Hons.) from the University of Western Ontario.

Simon Griffiths

Managing Partner, Breton Hill Capital

Simon Griffiths is a Managing Partner at Breton Hill Capital, where he leads investment research and is a member of the portfolio management team. He is responsible for finding sources of alpha and developing trading tools to exploit them. He has over 15 years experience applying investment research to institutional portfolios. Simon is co-chair of the Education and Research Committee for AIMA Canada. Prior to co-founding Breton Hill Capital, he co-founded the direct trading business at DGAM in Toronto where he was a portfolio manager and was responsible for all research. Simon joined DGAM from Northwater Capital Management, a $10 billion alternative investment firm where he was responsible for quantitative investment research and software development. Simon holds an M.Sc. in applied statistics from University of Guelph and is a CFA Charterholder.

Dr. Ranjan Bhaduri

Chief Research Officer, Sigma Analysis and Management Ltd.

Dr. Ranjan Bhaduri is the Chief Research Officer. Prior to joining Sigma in 2014, he was the Chief Research Officer and the Head of Product Development at AlphaMetrix Alternative Investment Advisors. At AlphaMetrix, Dr. Bhaduri designed and led an institutional due diligence and research program. Dr. Bhaduri worked closely with institutional clients on portfolio matters.


Prior to joining AlphaMetrix, he was a Vice President and on an Investment Committee at Morgan Stanley where he conducted due diligence and helped design customized portfolios of Alternatives. Earlier, he was at a Canadian Fund of Funds, and at a multi-billion dollar capital management firm where he was involved in all aspects of its fund of hedge funds and structured finance business. He has also worked with two major Canadian investment banks in the Financial Strategy Consulting Group and in Global Risk Management & Control, respectively.


Dr. Bhaduri has held advisory roles at the East-West Center, a leading think tank on the Asia-Pacific region, and at ClassMouse, an early stage software company. He has taught finance and mathematics at several universities and lectured on Derivatives for the Montreal Exchange. Dr. Bhaduri has published papers on, and been invited to speak worldwide regarding hedge fund issues, and advanced portfolio and risk management techniques. Dr. Bhaduri has a M.Math in Combinatorics & Optimization from the University of Waterloo (1992), a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Hawaii (1999) and an MBA from McMaster University (2002). Dr. Bhaduri holds both the CFA and CAIA charters. He is a member of the American Mathematical Society, the Mathematical Association of America, the Toronto CFA Society, and the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP). Dr. Bhaduri has served as a member of the All About Alpha Editorial Board, and as a CAIA Chicago Chapter Executive.

Jeffrey Jane

Senior Manager, Mitsubishi UFJ Fund Services

Jeffrey Jane serves as a Senior Manager at Mitsubishi UFJ Fund Services (MUFJ). He leads an operations team which provides full fund administration service to a broad range of hedge fund clients. Mr. Jane joined MUFJ in 2010, prior to joining Mitsubishi he worked at Caceis Investor Services (formerly Olympia Capital), in Bermuda from 2002-2010. Mr. Jane earned a Bachelors Degree in Finance from the University of Regina in Saskatchewan, Canada, and holds a CMA designation.
